Learning Ladder Gymnastics

Building kids up one handstand at a time!

about us

Who We Are

Learning Ladder Gymnastics was established in 2016 with the vision of combining education with gymnastics. We believe in teaching each individual child and not just the athlete. Our programs focus on age and developmentally appropriate gross, fine motor, social, language, and cognitive skills all within a safe and fun environment. Children are our passion. From our toddlers up through our school-aged kiddos we strive to be that positive outlet for your child to leap & learn and reach brand new heights!

Our Mission

To build a solid foundation for gymnastics while giving children the tools to succeed in all aspects of life. We believe a positive, safe, motivating, and nurturing environment is the framework to personal growth and achievement. At Learning Ladder we are dedicated to making each individual child's experience enjoyable and worthwhile so that they feel valued, gain self-confidence, and leave with fond memories that will last a lifetime.

OUR CREW

Jennifer Kontur "Miss Jen"
(Owner/Lead Teacher)

Gymnastics has been a big part of Miss Jen's life ever since she can remember. She spent many years training as a gymnast before starting to coach in 2003. Jen has coached gymnastics at Thome-Ohio Gymnastics and was the Preschool Director at Flytz Gymnastics and Gymnastics World of Twinsburg. Jen has always known she wanted to be a teacher and work with kids. She earned her Bachelor's Degree in Middle Childhood Education with a Reading Endorsement and taught in the Kent City Schools and Woodridge Local School District for several years before becoming a mom and starting her business. She even spent some time teaching Physical Education at Hudson Montessori School as part of their Children's House program.

Jen had big dreams and a vision of adding a different dimension to just your typical gymnastics classes and started Learning Ladder Gymnastics in 2016. Her favorite part of teaching gymnastics is seeing the joy on the kids' faces as they learn to do things that they have worked so hard to achieve. There is so much beauty, athleticism, mental & physical toughness, and FUN that gymnastics offers and she cannot wait to share her passion and knowledge with your child!

When Miss Jen is not teaching she is usually spending time with her husband, three kids, and close friends. Jen is a HUGE Disney fan and enjoys travels to Disney World as often as possible.

Miss Caitlin
(Toddler Teacher)

Caitlin is very excited to be a part of the Learning Ladder crew! Caitlin is a stay at home mom and blogger. She has two kids and is involved with the Twinsburg PTA as well as Fit4Mom.

Caitlin has been taking her kiddos to Learning Ladder since 2016 and has helped with many of our special events and camps over the years. She absolutely loves working with the little ones and socializing with the parents and guardians. Since starting gymnastics, Caitlin has seen such growth in both of her kids, especially her son. Seeing the wonderful benefits that gymnastics has provided, Caitlin knew she wanted to be a bigger part of Learning Ladder Gymnastics.

In her spare time Caitlin loves to workout, hike, read, and spend time with her family. One of Caitlin's biggest passions is ReelChat, her mental health & wellness blog. She is a huge mental health advocate who loves having hard and important conversations surrounding mental health and wellness. We know your family will enjoy working with her in the parent and tot classes!

Miss Rachel
(Preschool Teacher)

Meet the wonderful Miss Rachel! She loved doing competitive gymnastics as a young girl being taught by retired elite gymnast Kristie Philips. She also did ballet, tap, and clogging. Rachel later worked for Kristie as a preschool gymnastics coach. After moving to NE Ohio in 2015, she enjoyed working at a local preschool before becoming a mom.

Rachel also has a background in music, from musicals and choirs to leading worship at different churches. A fun fact about Rachel is that she has performed with a choir at the White House and Carnegie Hall.

When Rachel found the opportunity to be a coach at Learning Ladder, she knew it was the perfect fit! She is looking forward to working with a great team to bring gymnastics (and so much more) to our students.

Miss Sydney
(Toddler, Preschool, and Assistant Reading & Roundoffs Teacher)

Sydney is excited to be teaching at Learning Ladder Gymnastics and gain new experiences in such an exciting place! She completed her Bachelor's Degree in Psychology at Ohio State University and currently has her Master's of Education. Sydney is pursuing a Specialist Level Degree at Kent State University to become a School Psychologist. Growing up Sydney was active in softball and soccer and loved to get involved in numerous extracurricular activities.

During her undergraduate career Sydney worked at a school for children who had Autism Spectrum Disorder and other developmental disabilities, as well as worked as a preschool teacher at the Goddard School. In her spare time she enjoys working out, hiking, reading, and spending time with family and friends. One fun fact about Sydney is that she is obsessed with the show Friends! Her passion is to help children learn, grow, and succeed, and is so excited to get the opportunity to do that in such a fun setting at Learning Ladder Gymnastics!

Miss Sophie
(Gymnastics and CheerNastics Teacher)

Sophie is a proud coach here at Learning Ladder Gymnastics! She is a junior at the University of Akron where she is majoring in Education. Sophie enjoys teaching and learning new things. She was a competitive gymnast for several years before transitioning into a cheerleader at her high school. She was a varsity cheerleader at Woodridge High School for four years.

In her spare time she enjoys reading and spending time outdoors. One fun fact about Sophie is that she is almost fluent in Spanish! She also has known Miss Jen since she was a young child and her little sister was one of Miss Jen's former gymnasts.

Sophie cannot wait to share her love of cheer, dance, and gymnastics with your child!

Miss Brooke
(Gymnastics and CheerNastics Teacher)

Brooke is excited to continue her experiences in cheer, tumbling, and dance while being able to bring it here to Learning Ladder! She attended Marietta College where she cheered for two years and also majored in Marketing and Management. After obtaining her undergraduate degree Brooke now works full-time during the day and part-time here with us! She was also a varsity cheerleader at Nordonia High School for four years and helped with many youth clinics.

In Brooke's free time she enjoys working out, spending time outside, traveling and being with her family and friends. She takes pride in her four month study abroad experience in Ireland where she went to school but on the weekends got to travel and see seven other countries!

Brooke is excited to get back into what she loved to do growing up and now being able to teach it to your child!

Miss Beth
(ArtNastics Teacher)

Beth has nearly 20 years of art teaching experience and holds a Masters Degree in Art Education from Kent State University. She has taught art in a variety of forms including at an alternative school, as a private instructor, graduate assistant, as part of an outdoor education program, and at a local community college. Currently (while not spending time with the Learning Ladder family) Beth is an independent contractor teaching art focused on personal expression and creativity to adults with developmental disabilities.

While not teaching Beth spends a lot of time with her two kids, and might be found splashing in a creek with them, getting messy with slime, making sandcastles, and finding clouds that look like unicorns and pandas. Beth's oldest daughter has been taking classes at Learning Ladder since 2017 and has loved every minute. Her youngest began in 2017 and has grown so much through the classes. Beth is thrilled to be apart of Learning Ladder and grateful to be given the opportunity to share her love of art!

Miss Jen
(Flips & Frosting Teacher)

Jen is the proud owner of Gram's Goodies Bakery, an Olde World style bakery with a modern twist! Her beloved Gram taught her how to cook and bake in the "European style" growing up, focusing on taste and quality. Jen's most cherish memories are with her in their tiny Parma, Ohio kitchen. Jen's Gram was called home in 2017, and her greatest wish is for her Gram's legacy to live on in her recipes.

As a celiac, Jen learned quickly to adapt her recipes for her allergy. She is committed to offering gluten free, vegan, Paleo/low carb, dairy free and sugar free options in addition to the original perfection. Visit www.gramsgoodiesbakery.com for more information.

A fun fact about her is that she is also related to the other Miss Jen. We laugh about it with the kids since we both have the same first and last name. Her daughter Elise might also be seen at the gym as she has been involved in classes here at Learning Ladder Gymnastics.

HOW DO I REGISTER FOR A CLASS?

You will receive a confirmation message after registering and Miss Jen will be in contact by e-mail before you start. If a class is full then you will get a notice when trying to enroll. HOW DO I PAY FOR CLASS?

Choose what payment option you would like to do when you register for a class. You can bring exact cash or a check to Learning Ladder Gymnastics on the first day of class, pay by credit card, or choose an ACH bank transfer. We will send you an invoice if you would like to pay by credit card (3% fee) or for an ACH bank transfer (1% fee).

WHAT DO I BRING FOR THE FIRST DAY OF CLASS?

Every family needs to bring payment and complete a waiver form upon arrival for class. Waiver forms are good for a full year. Children should also bring a water bottle with his/her name on it.

WHAT SHOULD MY CHILD WEAR TO CLASS?

Children should come to class in something that they can comfortably and easily be able to move around in. No jeans or dresses. Leotards are a great option but not required. Girls with long hair should have hair pulled back out of their faces and no long jewelry. Children will go barefoot during class.

WHAT IS YOUR MISSED CLASS POLICY?

Due to smaller class sizes and for consistency in our classes, we do not offer make-ups for missed classes. There will not be refunds for missed classes. If something comes up that interferes with you coming to class for more than one class in a session, please reach out to us and we will do our best to work with each family on an individual basis.

Learning Ladder Gymnastics continues to do our part in keeping everyone as safe and healthy as possible. We ask that you keep your child home if they show any sign of illness. We sanitize all mats and equipment after each class and have hand sanitizers/hand washing stations easily accessible.

WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT FROM A LEARNING LADDER CLASS?

From the moment you step through our doors until you leave we want to make that experience special and worthwhile for all. We truly treat all of our athletes and their families like family. There is so much thought and passion that goes into our lessons. Every detail has been strategically designed to make class both fun and educational. You should expect your child to receive personalized instruction even in a group setting. We follow USA Gymnastics skill progression and strive to bring a quality gymnastics program while meeting the needs of each individual child. Our classes are truly unique and one of a kind. We teach the child first and the gymnast second.

Why learning ladder?

our blueprint for success:

Here at Learning Ladder we believe each child is unique and special and deserves a supportive and compassionate environment where they can grow and reach their fullest

potential both physically, socially, and academically.

Our program can be compared to that of designing a blueprint for building a house...

*Houses are all unique and individual to its owner - our programs are truly special and unlike our fellow competitors. We offer many specialty programs in addition to our high quality gymnastics classes so whether you want to do gymnastics just for fun or are looking to train at a higher level there is something for everyone!

*Houses need a solid foundation - in order to learn more challenging gymnastics skills you need to have a solid foundation and at Learning Ladder that's what we do. Our classes start at the age of 2. From the very beginning we teach correct terminology and proper form and technique to get our gymnasts off on the right path.

*Houses need floor plans - we take great pride in our creative lesson plans that not only build upon each other but also are a ton of FUN! Our weekly themes makes each class different than the previous one.

*Houses need contractors and other professionals to build it correctly - our instructors not only are well versed in gymnastics but also have specialties in other areas that they incorporate into the classes. We are certified teachers, mothers, ect.

*Houses need to be decorated to feel like home - we love being a small business and truly getting to know the families that we serve. In fact, we consider them all apart of our extended family! When you walk through our doors it should feel like coming home. Even though we all have different personalities and likes (same as how some homeowners prefer granite counter tops or gray wall paint) we not only support that individuality but in fact celebrate it.

So while it takes a lot of time, effort, planning, and love that goes into building a house we know that it is all worth it in the end. We want our students to LEARN and take the proper steps to climb the LADDER of success!
